Dr. Philip McWhorter, M.D.
Owner and Medical Director
Dr. Philip McWhorter brings nearly two decades of medical excellence to his role as Owner and Medical Director of EluxirMD Medspa & Ketamine Therapy. As a board-certified anesthesiologist, his expertise in pain management and patient care forms the foundation of our practice’s philosophy.
Dr. McWhorter’s prestigious medical journey began at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, consistently ranked among the nation’s top 15 medical institutions. His advanced training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and George Washington University Hospital honed his clinical skills and deepened his understanding of patient-centered care.
His remarkable career includes serving as an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at George Washington University Hospital—a facility that regularly treats visiting dignitaries and heads of state. Dr. McWhorter demonstrated his leadership capabilities and commitment to excellence as the former Chief of Acute Pain Service at WellSpan York Hospital, one of Pennsylvania’s largest Level 1 Trauma Centers. Currently, he leads as Chief Anesthesiologist for Fauquier Health with MedStream Anesthesia, PLLC.
Dr. McWhorter’s passion for ketamine therapy stems from witnessing its life-changing effects on over 100 patients. His approach combines medical precision with genuine compassion, making patient safety and education cornerstones of his practice.
Beyond his medical achievements, Dr. McWhorter is a devoted family man who cherishes time with his wife and children. His diverse interests—from film appreciation to video gaming, outdoor adventures, and coaching his daughter in competitive mathematics—reflect the well-rounded perspective he brings to patient care.
Kristina Schaffer
General Manager
With over two decades of experience in the aesthetics industry, Kristina Schaffer brings unparalleled expertise to her role as General Manager of EluxirMD. Her background as a medical master esthetician and extensive business development and management experience make her the driving force behind our practice’s operational excellence. Established herself as a sought-after provider in her previous practice. Her former patients continue to praise her exceptional results and client-focused approach—a testament to her enduring impact in the field.
As our General Manager, Kristina’s multifaceted talents are invaluable. She seamlessly combines strong leadership abilities with financial acumen, aesthetic wisdom, and an unwavering commitment to patient safety. Her operational efficiency and adaptability in the ever-evolving wellness industry ensure that EluxirMD remains at the cutting edge of care.
Where others might hesitate to lead a startup combining medical spa services with innovative ketamine therapy, Kristina has embraced the challenge with confidence and determination. When not advancing EluxirMD’s mission, Kristina enjoys quality time with her wonderful husband, two daughters, and their partners, and her two beautiful granddaughters. Her love for mountain retreats reflects her appreciation for tranquility and balance. Kasey Murray
PA-C
Kasey Murray, PA-C, is a dedicated and experienced physician assistant with eight years of clinical practice. A Florida native, she earned her undergraduate Biology degree on a full softball scholarship at Lynn University in Boca Raton before completing her Master of Medical Science at Nova Southeastern University. She began her career as an orthopedic PA in her home state, gaining extensive experience in a fast-paced surgical environment.
After relocating to Virginia Beach to be with her now-husband, she shifted into the field of plastic and cosmetic surgery, where she delivered high-quality, patient-centered care.
Now transitioning into the cosmetic medical spa field, Kasey brings her surgical precision and patient-centered approach to non-invasive treatments such as neurotoxins, dermal fillers, laser therapies, and hormone optimization. Her background in plastic surgery has uniquely prepared her to deliver these treatments with confidence, safety, and attention to detail.
Committed to ongoing education, Kasey is actively expanding her expertise through advanced aesthetic training and certification in regenerative therapies and wellness medicine. She believes in a holistic approach to beauty, enhancing not just appearance but overall vitality and confidence.
Outside of the clinic, she enjoys spending time outdoors tending to her garden, walking her Anatolian Shepherd Earl, picking fresh produce in Chesapeake and Pungo, and exploring local breweries with her husband. Kasey is also a large supporter of our military community, as her husband is on active duty in the military.
Valerie Manges, RN, BSN
Aesthetic Injector
Valerie Manges brings an exceptional blend of critical care expertise and aesthetic precision to EluxirMD Medspa & Ketamine Therapy. As a BSN-prepared Registered Nurse with 17 years of nursing experience—including 12 years in high-stakes critical care and emergency medicine environments—she approaches aesthetic treatments with uncompromising attention to safety and detail.
Since joining our team in 2024, Valerie has applied her intensive medical background to the art of aesthetic enhancement. Her specialized training in injectable therapies, including neurotoxins, dermal fillers, and advanced anti-aging treatments, enables her to create natural-looking results that both enhance beauty and restore youthful vitality.
What distinguishes Valerie’s approach is her understanding that true beauty encompasses both physical appearance and emotional well-being. Each treatment plan she develops addresses not just aesthetic concerns but also the confidence and satisfaction that come with looking and feeling your best.
Her commitment to excellence in patient care is matched by her dedication to her personal life. As a devoted military wife of over 17 years, Valerie balances her professional passion with family time alongside her husband and three beautiful children. Her love for fitness, travel, and beach escapes reflects the vibrant energy she brings to her work at EluxirMD.

Master Aesthetician
Laney Button is a licensed Master Esthetician with over 1.5 years of specialized training. She is passionate about helping people feel confident in their skin and committed to supporting each client’s unique skincare journey. She is proud to continue her professional growth as part of the team at Eluxir MD.
As a native of Virginia Beach, Laney enjoys ongoing education in aesthetics, spending time with family and friends, reading, and relaxing at Sandbridge—with SPF, of course.
Kaylee Cooper
Marketing Coordinator
As a dedicated Aesthetics Marketing Coordinator, Kaylee brings a strong passion for beauty, brand storytelling, and client engagement to every campaign. With a background in customer service and a deep understanding of the aesthetics industry, she specializes in creating compelling digital and in-person experiences that elevate brand presence and drive patient interest.
While away from work, you will find Kaylee tending to her collection of plants, an avid plant lover, and spending time with the father of her two beautiful daughters and their two cats, Oliver and Ross.
Cara Warner
Patient Coordinator
As the first point of contact at Eluxir MD Medspa & Ketamine Therapy, Cara brings a warm, professional presence that ensures every guest feels welcome and cared for from the moment they arrive. With a background in customer service and a strong interest in the medical aesthetics field, Cara seamlessly manages scheduling and client communications and assures your visit is a smooth, pleasant experience for every visitor.
While away from the office, Cara enjoys spending time with her husband and their three lovely daughters, three dogs, and 1cat. She is a strong supporter of our military forces supporting her husband who is active duty military as well as her daughters who are very active in school activities and sports.
Chrissy North
Patient Coordinator
Chrissy has been foraging for patient-client relationships in the beauty industry for over 10 years. With 5 years in business management, Chrissy honed her cosmetology skills at Rudy & Kelly Academy, a Paul Mitchell Partner School located in Virginia Beach. Her background in beauty and wellness complements her commitment to helping patients look and feel their best.
Away from work, Chrissy uses her organizational skills to run her own small business, working as a personalized hair stylist. She also loves spending time with family and friends, as well as her two cats, Oliver and Kellin.
